24 Week Update

Wow!! I can't believe I'm really 24 weeks pregnant! Seems like just yesterday I was finding out!

Not much to talk about! I feel great, besides it being harder to do things like clean, or bathe my girls. We've all had issues with being sick since the beginning of September so I'm hoping maybe all the lingering viruses can go away before winter hits and I can feel good again until the next bug gets in here and contaminates us all! It's been hard with Madison in pre-school because she's exposed to so many little kids and all the germs, and our bodies just aren't used to it yet.

Also, I've gained 7 lbs this pregnancy so far!

The Pumpkin Patch!

My wonderful husband Chris took the girls to the pumpkin patch today, while I unfortunately stayed home with the flu. This was Madison's second time at a pumpkin patch and McKenzie's first. I never went to many as a kid, so I'm glad they got to enjoy the day with their daddy, having fun! Thought I'd share some pictures my husband took for me since I couldn't go and while I'm sure I would've taken a ton more, I'm glad he's willing to take pictures, not only for me, but for them to look back on when they're older.

While driving yesterday evening, I heard a song that literally made me cry as I was driving!

Carrie Underwood's All American Girl.

Why did I cry you ask?
Because, after five weeks, I'm still sad our little girl growing inside me is a GIRL.

Before anyone downs me, yes I know I'm blessed to be able to get pregnant and have children, but I can't help this way I feel. I've always wanted a little boy and to be able to be give my husband a SON.

I know once she gets here I'll love her just as much as I love my two girls but am I so wrong to feel this way?

My mother-in-law said it best...
"You'll have your time of mourning the loss of never having a son" and that's how I feel.

This baby took thirteen months to conceive and I love feeling her kick and move and can't wait to see if she has the matching birth mark like her sisters, what color eyes and hair she has, or any hair at all!

Please tell me I'm not the only person that has ever felt this way?

I am my mother's third girl and she did NOT know gender with me and was sad I was a girl.
My mother-in-law had three sons and didn't know the gender of any and was sad for no girl.

I want this feeling to go away because I feel increasingly bad for my child. I don't want people to think I don't love her, I just can't get the feeling to go away because I thought she was a boy for 18 weeks until my ultrasound proved me WRONG!

Did the title of this blog catch your attention? I hope so because I'm excited to announce that I decided to do most of my diaper reviews and giveaways in December to celebrate free flluff and Christmas!

With the arrival of our third princess and the thought of having two children in cloth diapers, I went a little crazy with writing sponsors for reviews of different diapers. I've never cloth diapered a newborn and would love to start as early as possible so what better way then to test out different brands on my two year old?!

As of today I have five sponsors I will be using in this event:
Jack be Natural
Sun Baby
Belly Buttons and Bubbles
Diaper Mama

Go Green Pocket Diapers

I will decide on a start date once it gets a little closer.

I was thinking of opening the giveaways on mondays and closing them on fridays so every giveaway would only be open five days? Or I could leave them open for ten days and they would just over lap one another?

I would love to hear feedback from my followers and if any other blogger is interested in the fun and hosting it with me, just let me know!

I already have the button for the event on the right sidebar, feel free to grab it and put up on your blog, it will be one of the things you can do for extra entries :)

Happy Birthday Madison!

It seems like just yesterday I was giving birth to my first born, beautiful little girl, and now she celebrates her fourth birthday!

Madison was born October 18, 2007 at 12:04 pm after a few short pushes and she was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen! I couldn't believe this baby was ours! Something we created out of love!

Pregnancy Cravings

With each pregnancy I have different things I feel like I NEED to have to feel whole again. That is where CRAVINGS come in!

With my first pregnancy, Madison, I worked next door to a McDonald's and almost everyday I worked, I would use my lunch break to get a double cheeseburger with extra pickles and extra ketchup BUT the ketchup had to be falling off of the sandwich to where I could see it THROUGH the wrapper, and then I would dip it in honey. AMAZING!

There's a certain kind of Lays potato chips that I could NOT eat because I would get sick every time, even though they tasted so good!

With my second pregnancy, McKenzie, my whole first trimester I craved Subway. Once a week when my husband and I would go grocery shopping, that would be our dinner! Foot long turkey and cheese with lettuce, pickle, banana pepper, jalapenos, spicy mustard and mayo, along with a bag of the jalapeno chips! I also craved a certain kind of candy that you can ONLY find around Christmas time and my whole family bought a ton of it once it came out!!! None of us know the real name and my family calls it by a nickname so I can't tell you what it really is lol.

With this pregnancy, I want EVERYTHING!!!!!

Let me give you a list...

Burger King,
Taco Bell,
Steak n Shake,
Dairy Queen,
Jack's Pizza,
Papa John's pineapple pizza,
No Bake Cookies,
tons of different candies...

You name it, I WANT IT!!

I gained 6 pounds in 4 weeks because of this.
( I still say it's in part because my doctor went from an old scale to a digital)

I know that's not all the things I've wanted, but that's all I can think of at the moment since it's what I currently want lol. Some of these cravings are gone after I get the food, but most stay around, like McDonald's Big Macs. I could seriously eat a Big Mac everyday and still want more! It's the same with Subway, which can be a good thing since it's healthy and October means every foot long is only $5 but still, why can't I just be satisfied with the food in my kitchen?

I've never understood why women get cravings, how we think of the mixtures that we do, why they taste so good, and why they don't always go away after we eat what we crave!

My mom ate sour cream and onion chips dipped in cottage cheese while she was pregnant with me, and it is something she's continued to eat for the last 23 years. Guess who had a big craving for it on my birthday?! ME. Guess what?! I ate some with my husband that night, and noticed two days later, he had eaten the rest of it LOL.

I also have a friend that recently told me when her mom was pregnant with her, she could not eat pizza unless it had potato salad on top! The average person might say WHAT? GROSS! Me being pregnant, I want to try it LOL

I do want to also mention what our husbands can go through in the process of dealing with us women and pregnancy. With my first pregnancy, my husband gained sympathy weight, and STILL talks about it when we look back at pictures from that time in the hospital. Husbands are great because they're willing to get the food we crave, no matter the time or where it's at. One plus with my husband working nights is that I can tell him to grab something on the way home and when I get up in the morning its here, waiting on me to eat :)

What are some weird cravings you have heard about?
Anyone eat something while pregnant that they wouldn't dare eat now?
You never know, I just might have the urge to try it! ;)

Below are some pictures of things I've craved, and because of the wonderful world of FB, I have taken pictures of! I'm bummed that I don't have my Paps John's pictures anymore. Large pineapple pizza with 2x the pineapple and extra sauce, YUM!

Jack's Pizza

The tag says it all!

Spicy chicken with EXTRA ketchup & pickle

Are you hungry now?!

Comfybuns Customs-Cloth Wipes Giveaway

I asked Jessica, the owner of Comfybuns Customs, to provide me with a little background about herself and this company and this is what she said...

"I've been sewing since I was 4 or 5, have always loved it and can thank my amazing mama for giving me the freedom to just do it. I started my business after one of my friends shared a story with me about a friend of hers paying HUGE money to get cloth wipes made in custom fabrics. She said "you could totally do that, you know"...and I knew that I had to give it a shot. Of course I don't charge HUGE money for them, and sometimes, don't make a ton of money at it, but hey, it's a creative outlet, I'm helping fill a need in a growing market, and I'm having fun doing it. I currently make several sizes of double-sided flannel wipes, as well as "un-paper towels" which can double as placemats, and I've just started making nursing pads as well as tried my hand at organic hemp fleece diaper inserts. I love the versatility of the cloths that I make, because they are not limited to just using with cloth diapers as baby wipes. They have so many other uses."

First picture I ever saw of her product!

I first found Comfybuns because of another blog giving away some of her wipes. I loved how professional they looked, and was intrigued at the thought of homemade cloth wipes since the ones we have are from certain companies I'm sure everyone has heard of. After not winning the giveaway, I couldn't stop thinking about wanting to try these wipes, so I contacted Jessica and she agreed to a review and giveaway of her products.

She made me very happy when it was discovered she had JUST ENOUGH cupcake fabric for my wipes!

I am so in love with these wipes!!! I will say in all honesty I did NOT use these wipes for about a week because they're so pretty I was afraid to disturb their beauty. I KNOW, that sounds extremely odd, but as you can tell by my blog and other giveaways, I am OBSESSED with all things CUPCAKE so the thought of possibly staining these or destroying them was hard for me to overcome!

Once I did start using them though, I was amazed! they're so soft, they hold water well, and my daughter actually LETS me wipe her face and hands! A big plus for me also is that they don't smell over time. Has anyone noticed with kids wash cloths or other things cloth that eventually, after being used and washed so many times they have a smell that won't go away? I may be the only one, but I love that these come very clean and look the exact same once they're pulled out of the dryer. All nice and pretty again, ready to take another beating!
I think the "Perfect" wipe is great for the hands and face at meal times, as well as washing your face at night (if you do that). The "Petite Personal" is good for small messes but I'm anxious to use these two as wash cloths when our new little girl arrives. I think they will be perfect for a newborn sponge bath!!

I WILL be buying more of these wipes, mostly the "Perfect" size, in the near future and a couple more "Petite" wipes to alternate during baths for our newborn in the future.

I very highly recommend buying from Jessica. She's great at customer service, quick at getting orders together, and makes a great product!

She is based in Canada, so there is a very small price difference depending on where you live but I think her prices are amazing!!

Prices will increase by 10% due to rise in cotton price

"P.I.X.I.E.S." (Paperless Invention, Xtreme Industrial Earth Savers) - 9x12 - $2.60 ( * $2.85 * ) each. These are our latest product and are fan-named!! They make ideal "un-paper" towels for big spills, household cleaning/polishing, even placemats
"Punky" - 7x10 - $2.25 ( * $2.50 * ) each. These were born out of a customer request for an "in-between" size, so I pared down the 9x12 and "voila", the "Punky" was made. Excellent "un-paper" towel, napkin, hand towel, etc
"Plenty" - 9x9 - $1.80 ( * $2.00 * ) each
"Perfect" - 8x8 - $1.50 ( * $1.65 * ) each
"Pocket" - 7x7 - $1.25 ( *$1.40 * ) each
"Precious Preemie" ( Baby Nate's Favourite ) - 5x5 - $0.95 ( * $1.05 * ) each
"Personal" - 7.5x4.5 - $1.25 ( * $1.40 * ) each ( these make ideal "family cloth", or eco-TP )
"Petite Personal" - 6x4.5 - $0.95 ( * $1.05 * )  each

Happy Birthday to ME!

I was born via emergency c-section on October 11, 1988 at 1:32pm which means yesterday was a celebration of my 23 years in this world!

Me on my 1st birthday

I think the older you get, the less is done for your birthday and that's kind of sad. I don't feel 23 since I'm a mother of two and currently pregnant but it's amazing to see what I do have in my 23 years here on earth. I've been with my husband for over 7 years, two beautiful little girls, and another one on the way, plus we're living in our first house, so I think life is pretty great right now!!

Yesterday was a pretty normal day, just lounging around not doing much of anything. My husband asked what I wanted for dinner since it was my birthday and I said Subway and cake! lol. Even though Subway would've been a lot cheaper, he offered to go pick up Olive Garden to bring back home. Olive Garden is my favorite resturant, we go there to celebrate our anniversary, my birthday, other holidays, I love it! I also always order the same thing!

After the girls went to bed and my husband and I watched a little TV, I was able to get him to rent Bridesmaids through our satellite company because I've heard people say great things about it and was tired of waiting on Netflix and Redbox. It wasn't quite what I expected though. Chris and I laughed pretty hard at times, but I guess because of the cast, I expected it to be EVEN FUNNIER than what it was. I'm on the fence as to whether it was worth the $6 rental but I enjoyed spending time with my husband and laughing like we did

21 weeks

As of today I'm officially 21 weeks and over half way through my pregnancy. I feel like the first trimester dragged along because of the bedrest and worrying, but now this second trimester is flying so far!
20 Weeks 5 Days

I have to say, I'm still in shock that we're having another little girl since I felt so sure that we would finally get our little boy, but I can't wait to see her!

We've bought one outfit, two sleepers, and her bedding so far! There really isn't a lot to get since I have almost everything we need from my previous two pregnancies.

I've been feeling her kick since I was 17 weeks so it's crazy to think I've been feeling her move for one month already. I can't wait until the girls can feel her move around and see what their reactions will be!

As time goes on, I feel like I can breath a little better because I know every week that passes means another week that she's safe. Once I hit my third trimester, I'll feel even better. This whole pregnancy has had so many ups and downs so I'm just anxious to deliver and know shes healthy. We tried for her for so long and now she's not going anywhere if I have anything to say about it!

Hurricane Irene

My husband is a tow truck driver for a local company and they also go to places for disaster relief. They were called upon when Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast so my wonderful husband was gone for 24 days while he joined other companies to help clean up areas of New Jersey and two places in New York.

My husband's job was to spend 14+ hours a day 7 days a week picking up cars that were "totaled" because of the flooding. Some areas were still a little flooded, while others were covered in debris and the aftermath of the horrible storms that everyone went through. I asked him to take pictures along his journey, not only so I could see what he saw, but because he did a great thing! It was hard to have him gone for such a long time, especially being pregnant and having two young children, but I'm so glad he was able to make a small dent in strangers lives with something as little as picking up vehicles.

Below are pictures of things he came across while driving around.

He had to drive through this water to get to the other side

Random debris through out the streets as people clean

Hazmat crew in the distance

This is a house that should've welcomed home their child but instead was deemed unsafe

Looking at the red fence you can see the different levels the water was at

My husband did get ONE day off and I'm so glad because he got to tour New York City. Neither of us have ever been so this was a huge opportunity for him and I'm so glad he got to do it even though we weren't able to be with him.

Went to the World Trade Centers area

It's sad but I love they recognized her unborn child

It's sad but I love they recognized her unborn child (another)

Statue of Liberty from the Ferry you ride to get to her and Ellis Island

NYC from the ferry

The hotel from Pretty Woman and Home Alone

One last picture because he got to see the beach for the first time!

Unfortunately the water was freezing
So there you have it. A glimpse of something my husband did to help others :)

Lovable Labels Review & Giveaway

Lovable Labels is a company in Canada that specializes in...well... LABELS! I could spend so much time on their site just looking at the different items you get, the many different ways to get them personalized, and so on. They have such items as sticker labels for shoes, cups, clothes, stationary, and SO MUCH MORE!!

I was offered two different giveaways, one of which was posted on my old blog, and then this giveaway for their NEW "Fun Stickies"

From Lovable Labels Website

I love these stickers and so do my little girls. I chose the cupcake stickers (big surprise there huh!) and since I wanted to be fair, I had "The (our last name) Girls" printed on the stickers so I could use them for both girls and they could be a fun thing for them to have as well. You can use these for just about anything and they're dishwasher and laundry safe.

I also love that these stickers come in a book!! So neat and organized and there when you need them. It's a book of 40 stickers with your choice of name written on them for $19.95 CDN, so not a bad price in my eyes! They're also very durable and my girls have gotten them to stick to multiple things over and over again.

One lucky winner will receive a set of Fun Stickies of their choosing with the personalized options of their choosing!

Giveaway open to US and Canada only please!

Mama's Baby Cupcakes is OPEN!

I'm so excited to say that my blog is officially open!

This blog has been in the making for about a month now and I'm excited to see a great following base so far and I hope you all pass me around to your friends as I get this blog off the ground.

I hope to be able to share my journey through being married, motherhood, cloth diapers, pre-school and much MUCH more.

I started entering giveaways in December 2010 and became addicted so I'm happy to say that I now give things away :) I love being able to give a honest review of a product and share with other people my opinions (good or bad) and I love seeing the numbers climb as people enter my giveaways because it shows they share the same interests as I do :)

As for now I'll have 2-4 giveaways a month, and they will be open about 14 days. I also have a baby bash event that will open February 1, 2012 as we end my third pregnancy and I have some great sponsors already lined up for that as well.

When I get review and giveaway items, I like to add a picture to my facebook page, so that will be the best way of seeing what I have in store for you all and feel free to comment in things you would like to see

Thank you all for joining me and I hope to have an amazing time!
