How To: Enter Blog Giveaways

While there are some blogs that use blog comments to be left as entries, most blogs now are using Rafflecopter.

Rafflecopter is a web application that that will help publishers create, run, and organize giveaways on their blog. It’s a service that will allow you to place an embeddable widget that displays the specifications and entrants of the giveaway you’re running.

Rafflecopter changed recently, and so now you can sign in with your Facebook account OR an email address. Signing in with your Facebook account allows you to move to multiple computers like home or office, and it remembering which entries you've done and all the giveaways you've entered. While this is nice to have, please note that if you use the Facebook sign in, it uses the email your Facebook has, so be sure if you have a newer email to update Facebook so you don't miss an email about a possible win!

Another thing with the updated Raffecopter is that you can edit your entry! Lets say you forgot your twitter handle in the extra info, click "edit" beside the entry and it'll take back, you can fix the mistake, and then hit enter and you're good to go!

Some blogs have a mandatory entry, which you HAVE to do in order to "unlock" the rest of the possible entries if you choose to do them. Mine is a simple Google Friend Connect Follow, while some may have leaving a blog post, following a certain way, or visiting a sponsor's site. Some have multiple mandatory entries, so make sure you're going to do them all before doing one and then leaving. Some blogs do NOT require a mandatory entry!

The picture above is Google Friend Connect. It's one of the most common forms of entry. All you have to do is click "Join This Site" and follow from there. Leaving your Google Friend Connect name is required, so make sure to always know what that is. It could be "I love my kids" or some nickname you have, so if you forget, simply look over and it should show you :)

There's one thing you need to know about Facebook and Twitter, you can max out your likes and follows! Facebook combines the likes and your friends and caps it at 5000 connections. You can add more friends but not like anymore pages. I'm not sure the number for Twitter. My only suggestion if you meet your max limit is to unlike pages and unfollow people. I personally don't see why there is a cap so maybe one day both sites will lift the limit. Please leave your follow names for both of these so they can be verified! Some bloggers are still getting used to having to check mark a box so you can leave your information but we'll all get the hang of it soon! When it comes to sharing and tweeting, all bloggers want the link proving you did it and an easy way to find it later. All you have to do for this is right click on the time stamp after you post, click copy link location, and then paste in the form before hitting enter. The Twitter share also has a "how to" on finding and its just like Facebook.

Bloggers are switching to Google+ because Google will be taking the Google Friend Connect widget away from blogs that are NOT @blogspot.com so a lot are using Google+ as their new form of followers and then you have blogs like myself that use it as an extra entry to start building numbers up. It's rumored eventually Google Friend Connect will be gone completely so this is sad news for blogs that have thousands of followers and now have to start over.

It's super easy to follow via Google+. All you have to do is make an account and then either in the Rafflecopter form or in the sidebar, there will be a link directly to the blogger's profile. All you have to do is click the "Add to Circles" red button toward the top right of the page, select which circle you want them in, and then you're a follower!! A lot of us also have a widget in the sidebar that counts how many people follow us and that's just as quick and easy to click on too, so if you're not sure if you're a follower, always click to double check.

Most bloggers use FeedBurner when it comes to email sign ups. These emails are there to ensure if you love our blog, that you don't miss out on anything we have to offer. When you sign up with Feedburner, you will ALWAYS have to confirm your subscription by clicking on a link in an email they immediately send. If you DON'T do this, you won't be an actual subscriber which means the entry for following via email is VOID. Not all bloggers leave an extra info box for this, but it should be there so you can say which email you use. Not everyone uses the same email for everything so this ensures we can easily find you on the list of subscribers.

Anything else you'd like to see added,
comment below letting me know :)

Great overview! I think some people get confused with all the different entry options that are available.
