Halo SleepSack Review

Our founder Bill Schmid and his wife lost their first born to SIDS. From this tragedy, HALO and its mission were born. For over 15 years we've been educating parents about safe sleep practices and a portion of every sale goes to First Candle/SIDS Alliance and The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.  Since 2005, the American Academy of Pediatrics has suggested the use of wearable blankets.  Today, HALO SleepSack wearable blankets are the #1 trusted choice of hospitals, and are used nationwide to help babies sleep safely from the start.

We never used any kind of swaddle or sack with our oldest, mainly because I just didn't know they were out there. With the birth of our second child, came our first encounter of a swaddle sleep sack. We received one in the hospital (I believe Halo) and we didn't use it too much because I didn't understand the point of one. With Macyn came a lot more knowledge and a lot more interest in sleep sacks and the need to have some in our home!

Halo is currently in over 800 hospitals nationwide because of their Halo Safer Way To Sleep Initiative, which provides hospitals with SleepSack Swaddles to give one to the parents for their precious bundle of joy. Because of this great idea, hospitals can educate parents of the risks of blankets and why swaddling can be so beneficial to a child. They also have a video on their website for safe sleep tips!

We were lucky enough that our local hospital is one of the 800+ and we got a great cream colored swaddle for Macyn and used it ALL THE TIME! She only felt comfortable when her arms were tucked in and it came in so so handy!

*please note, not all hospitals allow swaddles to go home*

Everything about this sleep sack is ideal for us!
My favorite thing about these is the inverted zipper. With newborns its easy to change diapers on sleeping babies, so with this zipper, you're able to keep them dressed for the most part and quickly be done without disturbing a sleeping baby.

(light was off, sorry for low quality photo)

Macyn is 5 1/2 months old and weighs in the 13lb range.
I chose a size Medium because I wanted it to last through the winter since its fleece, but I think that a small would've worked because it's pretty long.

It's also very soft to the touch, the zipper flows easily, and she can wiggle around it without any issues. I think the print looks a little different in person vs the website but that's to be expected since nothing can ever be exactly the same.

I have only a few sleep sacks so they get a lot of use and its held up great!
I'm glad that it keeps her warm because our weather is so unpredictable here in Indiana but with it being sleeveless I know her body can accommodate whether she's hot or cold.
