Welcome to week 6 of Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday! I did an intro post where I explained my goal in posting these every week and how you can submit your photo to be featured. Check out the post if you need to refresh your memory and then read below about my fifth tattoo!
This seems to be a theme with me if you've read every week, and this is because of the artist. Being that he was a family friend and the only person that ever tattooed me, I didn't want to go to a stranger. He used to have a Facebook page for his work and had such great pieces online so I figured he'd be able to help me reach my idea with this tattoo.
As you know from my blog I am obsessed with cupcakes. I wanted a candy type theme to this tattoo and figured the best way to achieve this would be cupcakes and a swirl lollipop. (I want to point out that the black line to separate the colors in the lollipop should NOT be there!!)
Unfortunately this tattoo is ALL wrong. The lines aren't straight, some places are thicker than others, the names AREN'T what I wanted and the piece of candy you see.... that was supposed to be a peppermint but he messed up and colored the whole thing in. The "stick" for the lollipop and candy ends isn't done because he didn't have the right color and even though he KNEW I wanted hot pink, didn't have that either so he had to mix colors and it came out peach on my skin.
Until we know FOR SURE we're done having children I am sticking with this tattoo for the time. I have a huge idea in mind to try to salvage this tattoo and have it represent my children in a good way vs how it looks now which is pretty shitty.
This tattoo confirmed that Dale was never going to tattoo me again and we really haven't spoken since. I was quoted a price to fix and add to this and it was $100/hr from that artist. This unfinished tattoo (with breaks) took 5 hours so getting it semi-covered up, adding things on, and fixing stuff that isn't right means it'll probably cost me $800+ depending on the artist I go to.
That is A LOT OF MONEY but in time, my husband and I agree that this is the most important piece on my body and deserves to look the best no matter how much the cost!
