Get Fit Friday Week 9

Eventually there comes a time when you stop losing weight. You're still eating right and still exercising but the weight isn't coming off anymore, this is called a plateau. This is when your body is use to your routine and you'll need to change things up if you want to continue losing weight.

Plateaus are frustrating. They happen to almost everyone who is on a weight-loss journey. When I was on my journey I hit one ever couple of months. I have even been stuck on a plateau for over 60 days before! I can’t explain how frustrating that was. I felt like my hard work was for nothing.

There are a few things you can do to help get over this plateau.
1. You could have a "cheat meal" to increase your lepton levels, shocking your metabolism, causing it to speed up.

2. Continue to eat healthy, but take a couple days off working out to allow your body to relax and your muscles to rebuild. 

3. Calorie cycle. Don’t eat the same amount of calories everyday. Go up and down, but never under your recommended intake. If you go under, you will put your body in a starvation mode. That will seriously damage your body.

4. You can do what I did which was eat all complex carbs for breakfast and lunch then I only ate mostly protein after that.

 I also watched my "fats" intake by trying to eat little to no foods with fats. I then added more exercise to my daily routine and was able to get over that plateau. You may want to make sure you're drinking a lot of water and eating less salt.

Plateaus are hard to beat but not impossible to beat. I've hit very many on my journey and I know it can be frustrating, but keep your eye on what you want most, being healthy and happy with yourself. If I can get over these little speed bumps in the road to a healthy body, you can too!
