Michelle's Gender Reveal Party!

This post is 100% my own

Each time we've had a child, we've always called and texted people immediately after the ultrasound appointment to tell everyone the gender. I never heard of gender parties until I was pregnant with our third child. My husband was in another state for work at the same time we found out the gender, so I knew a party just wouldn't be the same with him not there. After calling everyone about baby #3, I couldn't help but still think about what a gender party would be like and how fun it could truly be, so when baby #4 came, I knew a gender party was a MUST for us.

At the same time I found out we were expecting, I was also planning McKenzie's 4th birthday party, so while I was shopping around for birthday supplies I decided to look at ideas for a gender party and stumbled upon the boy/girl zebra/leopard sets you see above from Party City. I bought a couple plates, napkins, and cup sets for each color when I bought the birthday supplies and have since based the party them.
While I didn't go crazy with decorations, I did want small touches of blue and pink since it is after all a Gender Party. With fun things like cotton candy, suckers, and pretzels, I'm really happy with how my focus table turned out.

I was going to announce Gender with this great idea Lakeon found on Pinterest. Its a layered cake and when you cut in to it, candy of the color gender falls out and then everyone knows what you're having. I REALLY wanted to do this, but chickened out because I'm not much of a baker, let alone a layered cake. Here's my Pin if you'd like to take a look for yourself.

Instead of the cake idea, I decided to use balloons. You buy pink and blue balloons and then pop a hole in the opposite gender of the baby. This didn't work too well for us because I popped ONE hole in the balloon and they still blew up. While you couldn't tell I made a hole, I wish I would've made several holes so it would've been a clearer indication of gender.

So, would you like to know the gender of the baby?!

That's right! We'll be welcoming our 4th daughter in December 2013.

While some people really were hoping for another boy, we're happy. We love our girls and everything baby related is pink, so it all works out in the end. I can't wait to see her beautiful tiny face, get to hold her tight, and smell those newborn smells all over again. She'll truly be our Christmas Present!
