Halo SleepSack Swaddle 4-Piece Gift Set Review

Thank you Halo for the SleepSack Swaddle 4-Piece Gift Set to help with this review

Our founder Bill Schmid and his wife lost their first born to SIDS. From this tragedy, HALO and its mission were born. For over 15 years we've been educating parents about safe sleep practices and a portion of every sale goes to First Candle/SIDS Alliance and The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.  Since 2005, the American Academy of Pediatrics has suggested the use of wearable blankets.  Today, HALO SleepSack wearable blankets are the #1 trusted choice of hospitals, and are used nationwide to help babies sleep safely from the start.

HALO Innovation’s SleepSack® wearable blankets have become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, 1,000 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. That is 1.5 million births getting first-hand, in-hospital experience with the HALO SleepSack Swaddle and safe sleep practices! Modeling safe sleep practices for parents in the hospital is the key to safer sleep practices at home.  HALO Innovations also offers free Safe Sleep Practices kits to childbirth educators to help further the cause of SIDS prevention.

We are lucky enough that our local hospital is one that provides swaddles at birth for your child. We're able to use them in the hospital, and extra fortunate to bring home with us as well when we left after the normal two days of hospital care. We've received a swaddle with each child and got a new one with Mya as well.
*please note, not all hospitals allow swaddles to go home*

Mya weighed 7lb 11oz at birth and I chose to get the Newborn Size set which is recommended for 6-12lbs and 0-3 months of age. Since my husband was at home with our other children most of my hospital stay, this gave Mya and I time to bond and play dress up with her pretty new Halo Gift Set. I'm glad I brought this to the hospital because she got sick all over the Halo Swaddle provided by our hospital, so I still had the option to wrap her up nice and snug without the traditional swaddling of the hospital blankets.

As you can see in the photos above, the shirt and hat are a bit big on Mya, and her hands tend to get tucked in to the sleeves of the shirt. Right now I like this because it protects her face from unwanted scratches, but I know with as fast babies grow that it'll fit her correctly in no time and she'll look just as cute in it then as she does now.

We were having issues with her body temperature during our stay, so having this nice light weight cotton swaddle was a great option for us. It kept her feet and hands covered at all times, but was more breathable for her and kept her a bit cooler than the fleece one from the hospital. Since it is mid December, we'll have plenty more cold nights and having both options for her is great when I want to ensure she's warm, but comfortable at the same time.

This is SO cute, but I have not ever gotten to use one! My son screamed bloddy murder and hated his. Hopefully with this lil girl coming, she will be more co-operative!
