Shabby Apple "Helena" Dress Review

Thank you Shabby Apple for the dress to help with this review

At Shabby Apple, we believe in both femininity and feminism. As feminine women, we create clothing that is artful in design and crafted with a vintage-style flare. Each piece is carefully constructed to both flatter a women’s figure and maintain her mystery. As feminists, we created a company that is women-owned and operated and that donates to help other women start their own businesses. With our old-fashioned style and modern ideals, we believe the best is yet to come!

When Shabby Apple contacted me I figured this would be a great opportunity to get a jump start on some new Spring/Summer clothes. I found a maxi dress that I really wanted but it wasn't on the list of items to choose from, so my next choice was "Helena" as seen in the photo above. I thought this dress would be a good fit because its light pink, looked like it would flow well, and is cute enough to wear on a date night or a family trip to the grocery store.

I really liked the idea of the ruched top because its something I've never really had and I like how it looks on the model above. I never wear heels but I like the simpleness of this dress and that I could throw a pair of flip flops on and just go!

When the dress arrived I fell in love. It's such a soft dress and light weight which makes it even better. When I put it on I liked how effortless it is to walk around in, how good the ruched top feels against my skin, and the over all look of the dress in person.

LifeProof IPhone 4S Case Review

Thank you LifePRoof for the phone cover to help with this review

LifeProof is a young vibrant company based in San Diego that designs, manufactures and markets LifeProof cases for all-environmental protection, functionality and interactivity to SmartPhones and Tablet PCs.

The registered brand name 'LifeProof' is inspired by the protection and fully functional convenient operation of the device in rain, in water while swimming or surfing, in mud, sand, dust, snow or ice.  The company mantra is 'Freedom' - freedom to be connected anywhere with your mobile device; freedom to build relationships, gain knowledge, exercise, and juggle work; freedom for all people anywhere to go everywhere.

My husband is a Tow Truck Driver who relies on his IPhone at times to take photos of accidents, or just cool things he tows. As Fall came he started mentioning needing to get a cover for his phone to help protect it around his job. In December I got approved for a review of a LifeProof IPhone cover and it couldn't have come at a better time!

While the cover was shipping in the mail my husband was on an accident scene for eight hours with high winds, rain, and freezing temperatures. The next day he mentioned that he was unable to take pictures of the scene because he was worried about his phone in the weather conditions and LifeProof popped in to my head. A couple days later the case came and I wrapped it as a Christmas present for fun and couldn't wait to see how he liked it.

Lakeon's Pregnancy Journal: Week 32

Doctor Appointments:  Feb.13-- We got to see baby Brantley on the 4D ultrasound and he's adorable! He even made us have a good laugh when he stabbed his forehead with his big toe!

Food cravings:  ChikFilA cookies and cream milkshake.

Symptoms: The past couple weeks I've had pains off and on in my cervix. Once I think I even had a real contraction. Contractions are new to me since I got to 39weeks 4days with my daughter and never had any contractions with her. Maybe it was a painful braxton hicks contraction? My tummy has been feeling very very heavy lately and I've had some swelling in my hands, legs and feet.

Weight gain: I've gained 28 pounds.

Measurements: (before pregnancy while standing up, it was 32 inches)
(while lying down)Below the navel- 43 inches.
(while lying down)Above the navel- 39 inches.

Sleep: Now I'm up most of the night peeing. I get heartburn every night and rely on my 2 tums before bed. I still sleep pretty great, though!

What I've been up to the past 2 weeks: Trying to put my feet up off and on throughout the day to keep the swelling down. I had to break down and finally buy some tank tops since my belly tries to peak out of the bottom of my t-shirts. My husband was able to be home this week and he's been helping me out with housework and Chloe, which is a huge relief to me! I'm trying to prepare everything for Chloe's 4th Birthday next month. Finally have my hospital list ready and started packing my hospital bags. It's a little early for that, I know, but I'm just too excited!

Comparing pregnancies:

Me at 32 weeks with Chloe.

Thank you PBS for the movie to help with this review

McKenzie is a huge fan of Dinosaur Train. Her 3rd birthday party last year was Dinosaur Train and that's how the craze started in our home. We have train sets, coloring books, and stickers of this great PBS show.

We don't normally watch PBS for cartoons but after discovering Dinosaur Train, our girls started watching the channel more and more discovering great shows that are on through out the day.

When I was approached about the DVD I knew it would be perfect for McKenzie and I jumped on the opportunity to have an actual DVD she could watch any time she wanted verses once a day when it's on Television.

This DVD was released February 19, 2013 and features four segments. The DVD is approximately 50 minutes long and retails for a great price of $9.99

Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday: week 5

Welcome to week 5 of Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday! I did an intro post where I explained my goal in posting these every week and how you can submit your photo to be featured. Check out the post if you need to refresh your memory and then read below about my fourth tattoo!

Now I'm sure most have heard that getting your significant other's name tattooed on you is a curse that you'll break up BUT we thought about this a lot.

No one can look in to the future and while we love eachother, we were practical as well. We decided to get eachother's names but they're simple with no fancy designs and some where that people won't see and could easily be covered up if something happened in the future and we weren't together.

We decided to celebrate our 1 yr wedding anniversary with these tattoos. After our girls went to bed, our tattoo guy (the guy that's done all my tattoos thus far) came to our house and helped us celebrate.

Our Valentine's Day

I'm so very late in posting this, but it's been hectic around here lately with a teething one year old, moody 5 yr old, and then every day life.

My ring from The Vintage Pearl my husband bought me

We have a tradition with Valentine's Day and that's a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's. This year Papa John's had an offer out so we opted for their heart shaped pizza for the occasion. Next year however we'll go back to Papa Murphy's because I wasn't a fan of the thin crust from Papa John's.

I hope you enjoy the photos of the kiddos!

Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday: Week 4

Welcome to week four of Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday! I did an intro post where I explained my goal in posting these every week and how you can submit your photo to be featured. Check out the post if you need to refresh your memory and then read below about my third tattoo!

My oldest sister who is now 36, had her first child at the age of 15. I had just turned 4 at the time so he was more like my brother than a nephew. A couple years later, she had another little boy, and then a few years after that, another little boy. While growing up with my nephews, they couldn't say "Michelle" and some how my nick name growing up became "Shell Shell". I was always called this by my nephews and sometimes still am even though they're now grown.

I'm pretty sure they're even taller now LOL

Macyn's Diva Birthday Party!

Our sweet baby girl Macyn turned 1 on February 7. This past Saturday we had her birthday party! I can't believe she's already 1 because its seems like just yesterday I was writing her birth story to share with you all.

Macyn acts like a little Diva so I knew this Diva 1st Birthday set from Birthday Express was perfect for her, especially because I wanted to do leopard print for her party months ago. I loved this set because its a mix of pink leopard and zebra, has tiaras as an accent, and is just so adorable!

Macyn had her 1 yr check up today and weighs in at 19.3lbs and is 29 1/2 inches long. She's saying things like "kitty, dog, go, i love you, mama, dada, baba, and nana" She's also on her way to saying "sissy" which just melts my heart. She's been taking steps for a few weeks and while she isn't walking full time yet, she's well on her way to take off any time now.

Below are some pictures from her birthday :)
You'll also see her wonderful onsie I had customized from The Pecking Order to match her theme!
Her shoes are also Jack and Lily

Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday: Week 3

Welcome to week three of Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday! I did an intro post where I explained my goal in posting these every week and how you can submit your photo to be featured. Check out the post if you need to refresh your memory and then read below about my very second tattoo!

This is my second tattoo. As a teenager I was a cutter. You can't see the scars like you can on some other people, but when I knew I wanted a wrist tattoo, my past came to mind.

I feel that my tattoos should have a meaning to them, otherwise they're not really worth getting. I wanted a wrist tattoo, but nothing huge so my scars came to mind and how I could honor that time in my life, as well as remind myself how far I've come.
