Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday: Week 44

Welcome to week 44 of Talkin' Tattoos Tuesday! I did an intro post where I explained my goal in posting these every week and how you can submit your photo to be featured. Check out the post if you need to refresh your memory. Since I've went through all my tattoos, now I'll be sharing photos I've found online, and the occasional viewer submission when they come in.

I chose to share this tattoo this week because its the closest thing to New Years Eve. It symbolizes a couple embracing, and the decor around is a heart. I think its super cute and that's all there is to that! :)

Blooming Bath Review

Thank you Blooming Bath for the bath pillow to help with this review

Blooming Bath was created by four fathers who wanted an easier way to wash their slippery soapy babies. After a year of development they came up with Blooming Bath, a flower-shaped bath pillow conforms to the shape of any sink. They figured bathes should be enjoyable, and with Blooming Bath, you can enjoy your child in a safe and fun way!

With the arrival of our 4th child, I really wanted and needed an alternative to the traditional baby bath in the tub. Since we have a two story home, I wanted to be able to give our baby baths in the sink while our other children run around and play instead of having them all follow me upstairs and wait as I wash their sister. Since our children all suffer from reflux as babies, bath time could be any time of the day, and Blooming Bath was a great alternative for us instead of a slippery baby in the kitchen sink.

Handmade from soft, cuddly materials, Blooming Bath's petals hug any sink to create a safe and convenient bath time experience for your most precious possession. Blooming Bath’s plush materials cradle and cushion your baby like no other. It’s a unique, easy, hassle-free experience that allows you to enjoy those special moments bathing your infant.

Crafty Friday: Week 13 (glitter spice rack)

This is such an amazing idea! After seeing these glitter organizers all over pinterest, I was very excited to find a spice rack at a rummage sale! I was less excited that there was still old spice left inside of it. YUCK! But after a good clean-up and a little touch-up, it ended up being a perfect way to get rid of all those containers of glitter everywhere. Now, I have all my glitter in a neatly organized.

Materials:
  • Spice rack
  • Mod podge
  • scrapbook paper
  • scissors

My spice rack needed an update so I cut out scrapbook paper and mod podged them onto it for a new/updated look!

After letting the glue dry and assembling all the pieces back together, I added my glitter to the containers.

Here are a few others I've found online.

"The Pecking Order" Custom Birth Announcement Throw Pillows Review

Thank you The Pecking Order for the throw pillow to help with this review
Zoey’s Attic officially launched in November 2006 by creator and owner Erin Delanty.  The inspiration for the website came shortly after the birth of their first child. Once they decided to grow their family it was a no brainer to have the store where families could come and get personalized items for children of any age!

I've been an admirer of these Custom Birth Announcement Throw Pillows from The Pecking Order for quite a while now. I'm all about personalized items for my kids, and if you're a long time follower of this blog, you especially know how much I love The Pecking Order! With the arrival of Mya, I couldn't help but want a great throw pillow to showcase an amazing time in our lives, her birth.

These pillows are 14 x 14 inches a with removable pillowcase for cleaning, and features a 300 thread count and zipper. You can include baby's name, birth-date, weight, length, a cute saying, and last but not least your choice of colors. Since there's a variety of colors to choose from, you can even match this pillow to fit the nursery theme of baby's room!

Live Clean Baby: Full Product Line Review

Thank you Live Clean Baby for providing these items to help with this review.
Live Clean Baby is a unique collection of eco-friendly baby care products designed with your baby and the environment in mind. Live Clean Baby promises performance with natural, gentle ingredients - caring for baby's delicate skin using plant based formulations enriched with certified organic botanicals that are safe for baby and safe for the earth. Live Clean Baby believes that “going green” is all about taking baby steps towards making significant eco-conscious efforts in your life. Buying eco-friendly baby care products is an easy first step to “going green”.

One of the first things you'll need with a new baby is products safe for them and their skin. It didn't dawn on me until a few weeks from Mya's due date that I didn't have the basic items needed to clean a child. Since our children are almost 2yrs and older, we buy normal products and not really "baby" items that's sensitive on the skin. Live Clean Baby really got me thinking about how I need to properly care for Mya and her brittle skin after she's born, and luckily they sent all the above items for us to review with her!

  • Shampoo & Wash - $6.99
  • Moisturizing Bar Soap (3 pack) – $6.99
  • Moisturizing Bar Soap fragrance free (3 pack) - $6.99
  • Moisturizing Lotion - $6.99
  • Non-Petroleum Jelly - $6.99
  • Baby Bath - $6.99

Since I was pregnant when I first received the items, I started using them on Macyn for review purposes, and immediately fell in love with the products. The shampoo comes out easily in her thick curly hair, her skin is soft, and she smells great after applying the lotion to her sensitive and dry skin. I couldn't wait to start using these products on Mya after seeing what they could do for Macyn, so the wait was on for baby to arrive.

Once a baby's belly button falls off, you can start to bathe them normally and submerge their little tummies in water. Having a Shampoo and Wash means I easily wash Mya's hair while I sponge bathe her awaiting for the right time for a full bath. After this time, I got to fully use each product on her gentle skin and see how they all did time and time again. With newborn peeling skin, the safer lotion is great to have around to help her skin as she gets used to the outside world.

Crafty Friday: Week 12 (Hair Bow Holder)

All little girls have lots of bows and we need a place to store them. Sure there's the hair bow holders with the ribbon hanging down from a wooden plaque, but I wanted to do something a little different. That's when I figured out I could turn my old picture frame into a bow holder!

Materials:
  • Ribbon
  • Glue gun & glue sticks
  • Picture frame
  • Fabric
Here's a picture of the first two hair bow holders I made.

Instructions:
Take the cardboard piece and glass out of the frame.
Discard of the glass. (or save it for another craft)
Wrap fabric over the cardboard piece and secure it with glue around the edges.
Cut out pieces of ribbon and glue them (at the top and bottom) to the back of the frame.
Replace the cardboard.

Here are a few other creative hair bow holders I've found online that others have made.

Baby BeanBags Review

Baby Beanbags are a comfortable, high quality and innovative seating option for your baby. The soft fabric outer, bean filling and swappable covers provide a cosy, safe and flexible rocker alternative for your child from birth to school age. Baby Beanbags are portable, easy to clean, offer a wide range of health benefits to you and your children and years of use from newborn to toddler.

Even though Mya is our 4th child, I was very interested in Baby BeanBags. Not only are they great for infants, but they are also recommended for toddlers, which means Macyn can use it and Mya will get several years out of it. With normal baby products, a lot recommend to stop use between 6-12 months of age, so the thought of being able to use this until school age is so very appealing!

Each of our 3 girls all had acid re-flux issues, so I assumed Mya would be no different. Since you can position these bean bags any way you'd like, this gives me the option to prop up Mya after eating to help with her re-flux, and also giving her the opportunity to look around, and take in the scenery of our busy home! If she happens to fall asleep in the bean bag, I can gently re-position the filling and lay her back more instead of moving her and taking the risk of then waking her up in the process.

Each Baby BeanBag comes with TWO seat covers! This feature is one of my favorites because once your child is old enough to get in and out safely, there is no need for the safety harness. Instead of it then getting in the way, you simply change out to the second cover and you have a smooth surface that is perfect for them to crawl in and out of. My only issue with the safety harness is that it only buckles on one side and is attached to the cover on the other side. I'd rather have two buckles vs slipping a leg in and out of the one side, but more a personal preference instead of it being a real issue.

Macyn will be 2yrs old in February and she just loves this bean bag! We started using it while I was still pregnant, and it was so cute seeing her pick it up and carry it over to the chair or the middle of the floor to sit down and enjoy a comfy seat. Even though this seat is filled with beans, its pretty much weightless. While my oldest child tends to plop in the seat, I know that any of our girls can use it with no issues.

Both covers are velvet and have a zipper in order to make them removable. There's Goretex water proof backing for possible accidents, and this also makes them fully breathable, warm in winter and cool in summer.

Halo SleepSack Swaddle 4-Piece Gift Set Review

Thank you Halo for the SleepSack Swaddle 4-Piece Gift Set to help with this review

Our founder Bill Schmid and his wife lost their first born to SIDS. From this tragedy, HALO and its mission were born. For over 15 years we've been educating parents about safe sleep practices and a portion of every sale goes to First Candle/SIDS Alliance and The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.  Since 2005, the American Academy of Pediatrics has suggested the use of wearable blankets.  Today, HALO SleepSack wearable blankets are the #1 trusted choice of hospitals, and are used nationwide to help babies sleep safely from the start.

HALO Innovation’s SleepSack® wearable blankets have become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, 1,000 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. That is 1.5 million births getting first-hand, in-hospital experience with the HALO SleepSack Swaddle and safe sleep practices! Modeling safe sleep practices for parents in the hospital is the key to safer sleep practices at home.  HALO Innovations also offers free Safe Sleep Practices kits to childbirth educators to help further the cause of SIDS prevention.

We are lucky enough that our local hospital is one that provides swaddles at birth for your child. We're able to use them in the hospital, and extra fortunate to bring home with us as well when we left after the normal two days of hospital care. We've received a swaddle with each child and got a new one with Mya as well.
*please note, not all hospitals allow swaddles to go home*
