Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 35 Infant Car Seat Review

Thank you Graco for the SnugRide® Click Connect™ 35 Infant Car Seat to help with this review

The Graco® brand of baby gear provides thoughtful, practical and dependable parenting solutions inspired by the instincts and best intentions of a loving parent. After carefully observing a parent's natural instincts to protect, nurture, comfort and soothe, Graco brings them to life in a broad range of innovative products, from strollers and car seats to high chairs, playards, monitors and more.

When we had our first child six years ago, we purchased our first infant car seat. Over the years (and more children) we were lucky enough to be able to use the same seat with each child. Fast forward to our fourth child's arrival and our infant seat was set to expire just weeks after her due date. Car seats suddenly felt so overwhelming and I was constantly looking at different brands to read and compare their features to see what made them better than the next. Having always been a fan of Graco, I fell in love with their SnugRide infant seats and the features that are offered on them.

We were sent the Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 35 Infant Car Seat to review in the pattern Grapeade. As soon as it arrived, I couldn't wait to open it and see how different it is compared to our older seat.

The SnugRide Click Connect 35 infant car seat is designed to protect babies rear-facing from 4-35 lbs and features a comfortable seat to keep baby safe and cozy. SnugRide Click Connect 35 is equipped with Click Connect technology providing a one-step secure attachment to all Graco Click Connect strollers making it easy to create a travel system that best fits your lifestyle.

The first thing I noticed when taking this seat out of the box is how light it is compared to our old seat. One thing about carrying around a baby is how heavy they feel. Even with a newborn, you're carrying around close to 15+lbs once the baby is inside, and I felt a lot more comfortable carrying Mya around without feeling like I instantly gained my 20lbs of pregnancy back.

Installation:

We've never used a latch system with a carseat, and while our first thought was to use the seat belt, we decided to try the latch installation with our mini-van and I'm so glad we did.

With our old seat we were constantly tightening and adjusting the base because it seems to move over time or loosen with the belt. While its not something you want in a base, we thought it was the shape of the seat, and continued to ensure the base was proper in place and tight when putting our daughter in. With the quick and easy latch system, it never budges. Macyn is almost two years old, and tries to use the base when getting in the van because of her little legs, and it stays securely in place. You'll notice on the side of the base is a level indicator which also ensures it's installed correctly and safely. I like this small feature because a child's safety in a vehicle is so very important, and all pro-cautions to help with safety is a big plus.

With a picture right on the base, you're able to quickly see how placement goes when using different types of seat-belts, along with a latch system. While I was looking through the manual, my husband pointed it out, and I thought "well isn't that neat!" This is also handy if you have a friend or relative taking your child and needing to install in their own vehicle.

Adjusting Straps:

Besides safety, the straps are my favorite feature. With our old seat, you have to pull the whole thing apart, chest clips off, and feed everything through each slot before putting it all back together. When it came to adjusting the tightness, you'd have to have the baby in the seat and then pull in the back at the straps until they were just right, but with any growth or change of outfit, it seemed as though the straps needed adjusting again. Now with this seat, there's an adjustable strap at the front of the seat that you can adjust each time you put your baby inside. When its time to adjust in height, you simply unhook from the back and move the strap through to the next slot. It took me about three minutes to put the straps where Mya needed them vs our old seat where it would take about ten minutes for my husband to adjust them.

Fit:

In this photo Mya was about a week old and in the eight pound range. While she doesn't seem happy, I love this fit for her. The straps are nice and thick but lay flat against her body and support her in just the right places. The buckles glide with ease and its a quick pop in and we're ready to go. Having the adjustable strap so close to her feet, means I'm not hunting for it when I want to adjust the fit based off what she's wearing. I do have to go under the cover to unlock the button to feed the strap through, but that only takes a couple seconds extra and we're good to go.

My first grandson is due in April, I would not have to worry so much about his safety in his carseat with this one. I love the fact that you can check and see if it is secure.

I love the new infant seats that have the higher weight limit. It's so nice to be able to pop little ones in and out of the car without unstrapping them from their seats. And so much safer to rear face!

Its been hard for me to find a infant seat that is made for "smaller" babies (all of mine were under 5 lbs when leaving the hospital) so that is a HUGE bonus....love that is is also lightweight....my last infant seat was a back breaker

i love the one step click to make sure installed that it goes up to 35 lbs rear facing and that it has side impact protection as well!

I love that this seat can be used longer term to keep the little babies safe while rear facing. It's also super handy to have them in the bucket to snap into a stroller while still sleeping!

Our first Graco seat just expired, and I love that gracos continue to fit Gracos! I still have our first stroller, and so I like knowing that if I get another Graco seat it will still snap into place with my old stroller. I like the latch system, it seems to have improved since we bought our first graco 6 years ago.

WOW what a awesome!! review, I really have to say I just love this, so many great features to this car seat. Besides being safety I really like that you don't have to bring the wholes car seat in, that you can just leave the base in the car :) and that it has more than just one setting which is great for the child depending if he or she is awake or sleeping n so on.. thanks @tisonlyme143

I have been debating the Graco car seat and Britax but your review has been so helpful in my decision. Thank you!

Always appreciate thorough car seat reviews from real moms. We used Chicco with first child just because someone in our fam lent us the whole travel system. But when you are looking to buy again, it IS so overwhelming. Thanks.

We have one of the click connect systems and we LOVE it! It is very simple to use and in the middle of the winter when all your really want to do is get that little bundle of joy into the warm car with ease (not to mention getting mommy into the car with ease!) this car seat is wonderful! I love the fact that you have used images on your review! So many reviews forget to post images to show their readers how the product works! Thanks for the review!

I'm so glad they have upped the weight/height limits on infant seats. My first son's seat was only 22#s. He was so long that he grew out of it at four months. Had to move him to a convertible. Made it a pain when he fell asleep in the car.

I like that this goes to 32" and down to 4 lbs. Our daughter came home at 4.5 lbs and most carseats didn't go below 5 lbs. We were lucky the one we had chosen did, but I like that more are coming out with the lower bottom limit.

We used an infant car seat with our first but a convertible with our second. It's great to see how far they've come.

This would be so great for my daughter who is pregnant with baby #2. It's so lightweight, and that will make it easier on her to carry the baby in his seat, while holding the hand of our first grandson who is 2 now! Also, its really nice looking!

I'm expecting my first, and between this reviews and a few other recommendations from friends, this is definitely the car seat I want for my baby. Thanks for the review! :)

The strap adjustments look super convenient.

Amy Rose said...

I had a Chicco KeyFIt 30 for my first, loved it, and gave it to a friend recently. This seat is comparable in price, but it has a "boot" with it! That will be great for keeping baby #2 comfy next winter! No more dealing with blankets being blown around in the wind. I was too stubborn to buy anything else, and of course the aftermarket Bundle Me type things are not safe. Anyway, this is excellent because it comes with the seat!

We used this carseat with our firstborn and we've loved it! Connects easily into the stroller which was a must for when he was little. Now that he's bigger, it still fits him well and is easy to carry him in it -- the carseat itself is so light!

Thank you for your review. I appreciated several things about the Graco Snugride Click Connect Infant seat. Everyone wants a car seat that will keep their baby safe so I like the safety rating that you included. But with safety, parents want a seat that is easy to adjust and easy to install. Thank you for giving us the comparison between the Graco and your old car seat.

What I like most about this car seat is that it can be used for babies up to 35 lbs! The one we currently have only goes to 22. My babies grow fast and we have had to get them in a new seat around 9 months. I would really like an infant seat for our 3rd that can stay in the car for much longer!
