Merle and Velma: Personalized Keepsake Blanket Review

Thank you Merle & Velma for the blanket to help with this review

Merle & Velma is a melting pot of all the yummy goodness these two incredible women brought into the world.  Together with my Mother-in-Law Holly, we put a modern twist on the traditional keepsakes Merle & Velma loving created for family and friends.

A sleek and simple take on a classic product, the Rhoost™ Blind Cord Winder makes dangling blind cords a thing of the past, keeping your loved ones safe and your personal style intact.

I love personalized items. With some of our children, custom personalization is the only option for them when it comes to feeling special and having items with their names on it. There's so many companies out there now that offer one of a kind personalized items available for purchase, and Merle & Velma is one I'll be introducing to you today.

Since Mya is our youngest baby, I decided to get her a blanket that she could grow up with. Our older two girls have special blankets that they've slept with since they were babies, so I was excited for this blanket to arrive with Mya's name all over it.

These Personalized Keepsake Blankets are made with 100% organic cotton fabric, printed with non-toxic water based dyes, and made in the USA. These blankets measure 30"x34" and are machine washable. While we haven't washed our's yet, the website states they will shrink after the first wash, so I might air dry our's just to be on the safe side.

These blankets are very soft and printed well. The name you choose is printed on both sides (as seen above) and you can choose different font/color combinations to your liking. I chose the "Grace" text because I liked the cursive and odd text offered in this collection.

Besides the blanket we received, you can purchase a more detailed blanket which states their date of birth, time of birth, length, etc. They also make pillows with the same information, and then you can also buy onsies that showcase their birth facts.

The onsies are $29, pillows are $89, and the blankets are $129. Turn around time is an average of 2 1/2 weeks since they're made to order.

Since this is a review, I'll be honest in saying that the price is way too much for me. Compared to their example photos online, our blanket seems a lot smaller in person, and when held up to light you can see through it, so the fabric is thin. I love the thought behind these blankets, and I'm sure the organic cotton and water based dyes make the price higher, but having four children means I'd have to spend over $500 to get them all a blanket and that's just not realistic for my pocket book and many others in today's economy.
