Accessories for Cameras: Shutter Huggers Review

Thank you Shutter Huggers for the items to help this review

As mothers and photographers we have spent many hours chasing small children around trying to capture the perfect picture.  We have sung silly songs, made random animal noises, and promised all kinds of fantastic prizes in an attempt to get kids to look at us and smile.  After making our first Shutter Hugger and seeing how much time and energy it saved us during photo shoots, we knew we had to share these cute little guys with other parents and photographers.

As a mother to four children, I have had my fair experience with photos. Always making noises or waving toys, it's almost impossible to get all our daughters to look at the camera at the same time and smile! When I found the Shutter Huggers website, I was excited about their products, and eager to work together in hopes of a solution for better photo taking.

As soon as the package arrived and I opened it, I fell in love. I chose giraffes because they're cute and pretty neutral for our girls. I was anxious to see how well they fit on my devices and to start using them. The bigger one for the camera has a stretchy belly area to adjust to different sizes of cameras, and then the mini version is covering a clip so it slides right on top of your phone.

While I planned on using the camera one for our friend when he takes our family photos, I recently got a camera after collecting Amazon codes, and I couldn't wait to see how it did on my smaller camera vs his bigger more technical version of mine.

As you can see in the above photo, when I have the Shutter Hugger on our camera it becomes hidden. At first I thought it was too big, but really its a good thing. Some of our girls see a camera and just stare. They don't like the thought of being forced to take a photo, so I thought maybe hiding most of the camera would be a good thing. The only issue I have with this for MY camera is that the head covers the flash spot. While its folded down unless in use, if I needed the flash I wouldn't be able to really use the Shutter Hugger unless maybe I turned it upside down.

Since I have a case on my iPhone it took a little shove to get the Mini on there, but it looks great! It's the perfect size so it doesn't cover the camera hole, and its not big and over bearing when you're trying to take the picture. I like that the main focus is the giraffe's face and no extra unnecessary pieces flying around. I did cut the tag off because it bugged me a little, but it doesn't get in the way of anything, so that's more of a personal preference instead of a must. I'm not sure if they can make the tag smaller, but that would be my only thing with the Mini.

I figured the best example time to take the above photos would be while I took Mya's 6 month shots. Normally she's pretty easy to pictures of, however, with three sisters running around and her curiosity getting the best of her it gets harder and harder to get simple nice shots like I tried to take above. Of course on this day they all wanted to watch us and be right beside her so it was a perfect time to use the products.

At first she wasn't too sure with the bigger one and as you can see in the photo, I moved the head around a little bit to get her attention and once she saw it, I got a nice big smile. I think because I was closer with my cell phone, she got a better look at the Mini and really liked it as you see above.

Overall, I like what Shutter Huggers has to offer and I'm so glad I found this company. It seems like such a simple solution and it truly is. I'm glad they put it on the market for other parents like myself!
