Thomas & Friends Watch and Play Kids App Review

Thanks to PBS for the code to review this app for free

The ultimate companion app for your engineer on the go! Focusing on the learning goals of the hit PBS KIDS show, Thomas & Friends Watch and Play will help foster your preschooler’s social and emotional growth, self-efficacy and problem solving skills.

Our second daughter is 5 1/2 years old, and when I was approached with this opportunity to review the Thomas & Friends app, I knew it would be perfect for her. With a variety of game options, I've caught her so many times playing this game for her whole twenty minute i-Pad session.

Building your own track is by far McKenzie's favorite thing about this game. When she plays, its always something different, and she's always coming up with fun tracks (both easy and hard) to watch her train navigate through. I really like that you can do buildings, trees, and water, plus saving it is great for later.

There's a couple things I'd change about this app, the first being the repair tracks section. It only has you "repair" two tracks and then you're done, but I think it could be better if they did 5-10 at a time.

The videos are fun for McKenzie because she's at school when I see this show on TV. She was able to watch it the other night and never moved the whole time it was on.

This app is $2.99 for the iPad and iPhone only at this time. As much as our daughter plays it, I think it's worth the price over all. Since there's several things you can do, it's like four games in one, making it more worth it over all when purchasing.

If your child is a fan of this show/series, I'd say this app is a great choice when on the go like in the car, or when quiet time is needed like at home or even a doctor's office while you wait.
