Pure Sun Defense: Kids Sunblock

I received products for free in exchange for a review. All thoughts/opinions are my own!

We developed Pure Sun Defense to fight the fastest growing cancer In America: Skin Cancer. One in five Americans will develop Skin Cancer in their life, and proper sun protection can change this statistic. Kids under 10 years old who don’t wear sunscreen are 50% more likely to develop Skin Cancer as adults versus kids who do. It’s important to protect our children early on and build good habits.

While I was never the best with my skin when I was younger, I try to help my children as much as I can. I feel it's important to show them that sunblock and protecting yourself is key in the health of you body, and I was thrilled when I came across Pure Sun Defense and their fun line of sunblock!

Whether you're outside to play, or other fun activities like swimming, sunblock is always a must! Everyone wants to be outside as much as they can during the Summer, and it's amazing how quickly outdoor fun can be a downfall if you're not protecting yourself and your skin. Always having protection is key, and I want to tell you why!

After watching an episode of Ellen and discovering this company when she featured them, I was really intrigued by the characters on the front of their bottles. I think that with kids, this adds to the hype of using products, as well as making it fun for them by always having their favorite characters close by.

Another thing I really liked was that it's SPF 50. This number is a guide to the product’s level of protection, or more directly, it indicates how much longer you can stay exposed to the sun before getting sunburned. For example, it would take 50 times longer to burn with sunscreen SPF 50 than it would without sunscreen. Since I can burn easily, a decently high number is great for myself, as well as my children, because their skin is so delicate at their young ages.

Around 15 minutes before going outside, you should apply your sunscreen liberally, and then reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, and at least every 2 hours. This ensures that you still have the max amount of coverage and that you're protected if you plan to be in the sun all day. I like using the spray bottle on the girls' bodies for over all quick coverage, and then the lotion is nice to use on the face, ears, and neck. You never want to use spray on the face due to possibly opening their eyes or inhaling the product, so if spray is all you have, squirt it in your hands and then rub on the face to ensure coverage.

Another great feature I liked was that it's Dermatologist and Pediatrician tested. I like using children's sunblock on my kids, especially when tested like this company, because I know its been ok'd as gentle for kids and their sensitive skin. I'm willing to pay a little higher prices for this because I don't want to break my children out with a rash while we're trying to enjoy ourselves, and I feel better knowing that with Pediatrician approval, it's possibly safer for them.

You can purchase the Pure Sun Defense line at Walmart and Target. The spray bottles and lotions retail for $5.98 each. The spray bottles are 6oz and the lotion bottles are 8oz, and they're also Hypoallergenic and fragrance free.

I like the fun characters on the tubes and bottles. Kids will probably be more eager to apply sunscreen if they see the fun characters.
