Re-Play: Recycled Children's Eatery. Valentine's Day Edition!

Thanks to Re-Play for the book free for this review
Re-Play Products are made from recycled milk jugs! It's a better alternative for parents looking to make the planet a better place for their children as well as future generations.

I saw Re-Play four years ago on a blog, and shortly after that we purchased some plates and bowls for our (then) two little girls. I loved the idea of a divided plate because our second daughter didn't like food to touch, and enjoyed that they came in fun colors of recycled materials. At the time, I didn't realize our local Wal-Mart sold them, so we purchased online and have used them ever since. I've worked with Re-Play a couple times since starting in 2014, and we've also bought their products in-between, but I was thrilled when they accepted my request for this new review!

Some of the many features include:
  • Spoon has a deep scoop for children learning to use utensils
  • Fork has durable, rounded tips for your child's safety
  • Drinking cups are sized just right for the thirstiest toddler and stackable for easy storage
  • Divided plate's deep walls are perfect for little ones learning to feed themselves.
  • The bowls deep walls are perfect for snacks, soups and cereal.

Since we've used Re-Play for a several years, I've had more than the normal review time to use their items. I've found that since they're plastic, they come clean very easy. Some food may not get rinsed completely, but it comes off quickly when washing. I've found that cereal especially is easiest for these bowls to help with sticking, and even baby oatmeal peels right off if not rinsed out immediately after use. Since our 2yr old loves feeding herself, she only eats out of Re-Play items. Since the walls are high she can scoop food with the wall's help and not make a mess. The silverware is great because the deep spoons help pick up food easily and keep it in the spoon while they put it to their mouth. While I do prefer kid forks with real metal teeth, our kids use Re-Play 99% of the time because its a must have product. I like matching all the colors, having my kids each have one color for their meals, and this means no one gets confused about who's bowl is who's or where their silverware went because they're color coordinated for each meal.

One new item we did get to try this time is their snack pod! While I wasn't expecting this item in our review, I was so happy it was sent to us. Our oldest daughter is in second grade and for some reason is one of the last grades to eat at her school, so daily snacks are a must for her. This whole school year we were either purchasing pre-packaged items or using sandwich bags to hold her items in while hoping they didn't crumble in her bag on the way to school. I immediately started using this snack pod and it has been such a life saver for us! Not only does the snack pod protect the food inside, but I'm also able to purchase bags in items like Goldfish and Cheez Its and give her a little each day instead of buying more expensive pre-packed items that are protected by their own packaging.
One newer item they have that is next on my list of purchases is their flat plates!! These are ideal for snack time fruits and especially pizza night! They come in two different six packs right now on their website or you can buy two packs of the same shade if you prefer.

My favorite set is their 8 piece "Super Set" which looks like a big rainbow of colors. All items come with the same amount of cups, utensils, bowls, and divider plates. This set would be ideal if you've never purchased before and want to build your quantity up quickly. This set is $70, so quite an investment, but it's well worth it when you're still using the items several years later like I am with barely any visible wear to them.

One favorite thing if you have only one or two children is purchasing a full set of items in their favorite color. It's a fun way to establish items, but also fun for the kids who can easily get excited at the idea of having their favorite colors at dinner time. I do plan to do this as my children age some more and we transition from our oldest children up to using adult items and still having toddlers use Re-Play.

Certain items can be found in stores, and they offer a Store Locator button on their website to help make it easier to find those stores in your area.

Re-Play uses curbside collected HDPE plastic. The recycled plastic is sanitized using a patented, proprietary process that cleans the plastic and removes anything that was absorbed by the plastic. Our recycled plastic is FDA approved food grade material.
Our packaging is also made from recycled paperboard. The minimal package design does not use plastic blisters, twist ties or any other extra restraints that can create more waste.
