March 14: will ask belly measurement
At my Feb 11 appointment, I mentioned how I've been having a hard time breathing and already feeling like I'm 9 months pregnant, so after measuring my stomach and it being "ahead" I was sent for an ultrasound to check for excess fluids or something that could make me bigger. Being as he is my fifth pregnancy/child, I'm already stretched out as I like to say, so that is definitely part of the issue.
I got a phone call later in the day that his head is measuring bigger then they'd like so at my next appointment in two weeks, I'll be having another ultrasound to see how he's doing over all. While all my girls have big heads naturally, I did see on the screen his head was two weeks ahead and I just don't know how normal that could be.
At my next check up two weeks later on Feb 25, I had another ultrasound to check his head and it was still measuring ahead but seemed to not be as far ahead as two weeks ago. I had my check up after and they told me his head is in the 46% range according to those charts all doctors use and the Nurse Practitioner said everything looked great. She did mention a couple times that a doctor would look over the scan as well, but he looks great over all and no worries.
One hour after I arrived at home my doctor's office called me saying that one of the doctor's in the practice has decided I need further testing on Max's head. They told me it would take about a week for the imaging place in our hospital to call me and make my appointment for a "more detailed ultrasound as a pro-caution for the baby" and I finally had that appointment two weeks later on March 10.
After 30 minutes of measuring Maximus all kinds of different ways, looking at everything they possibly could see, he was put in the clear of his worrisome "big head" and the specialist said he looks perfectly healthy. This is such a weight off my shoulders after six weeks of worry and waiting so I'm very happy to try to enjoy my last few weeks left!!
Since my 28 week ultrasound Maximus has been head down. At my specialist scan March 10 the lady told me he's very far in to my pelvis already (still head down) and so that explains a lot of the feelings I have with him being so low already. I'm not too uncomfortable overall, but I can tell he's down there and hopefully he takes it easy on me these last eight or so weeks.
